About

I failed my way into this.

Most of what I've learned, I learned the slow way — through patterns I didn't know I was running until the cost got too high. TSIM is what I built on the other side: a quiet editorial home for people who are done performing, and a coaching practice for the ones who want a kinder, more honest map than they were handed.

A worn leather satchel on a porch railing at golden hour, journal and paperback visible.

The arc

Before

The version that worked, until it didn't.

For a long stretch, the operating system was performance — be useful, be needed, be liked, be early, be the one who handles it. The system worked. Until the day it stopped.

Crash

The collapse that named the problem.

Not one event. A slow erosion that finally tipped. Burnout, broken patterns, an honesty I had been avoiding for years. The collapse wasn't the disaster — it was the diagnosis.

Reckoning

Reading everything, believing very little of it.

Years of inhaling psychology, behavioral science, and the trauma-informed literature. Most of it useful in pieces. None of it fit cleanly. The frameworks were either too brittle or too vague.

Experiments

Running small experiments on myself, mostly in private.

What finally fit was a quiet hybrid: the structural clarity of behavioral psychology, weighted toward the practical, with a trauma-informed lens that treats every pattern as a logical adaptation rather than a character flaw. I started calling the working blend Julian — an internal name for the framework, not a brand.

Ongoing

This site is part of the work, not a finished monument to it.

Writing here is the discipline. The essays force the thinking. The case files keep me honest about my own loops. The practices are the small experiments, written down so others can run them too.

What this place will and won't ask of you.

What TSIM is

  • An editorial site about behavioral psychology and trauma-informed thinking, told honestly.
  • A library of short, gentle reframing practices you can try in five minutes.
  • A coaching offer for people who want a structured container with a real human.
  • A slow place. Read on your timeline.

What TSIM isn't

  • Therapy. The work here is coaching and writing, not clinical care.
  • A crisis service. If you are in crisis, please call or text 988 in the US, or your local emergency line.
  • A guru pitch. There is no guru here, just a person and the work.
  • A hot take engine. The pace is intentional.
